Tajik Foreign Minister Briefs OSCE on Alarming Situation at the Border with Afghanistan

DUSHANBE, 30.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Margareta Cederfelt.
The meeting focused on a wide range of issues of cooperation within the OSCE framework.
The parties noted the significance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation for the expansion of relations.
They underscored the importance of jointly addressing the modern challenges, such as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, climate change, border security, the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as drugs and weapons trafficking.
The parties also discussed issues of human rights, gender equality and increasing the role of women in the political and economic life of society.
They paid special attention to the latest developments in Afghanistan. Muhriddin informed the OSCE delegation about the alarming situation at the border with Afghanistan.
The parties expressed their readiness to use ample opportunities to intensify cooperation in all three dimensions of the OSCE comprehensive security approach.
