Tajik and Kyrgyz FMs Note Importance of Maintaining Friendship and Good-Neighborliness

DUSHANBE, 22.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Ruslan Kazakbaev, who is in Dushanbe to attend the EU — Central Asia Dialogue.
The meeting focused on the current state of the bilateral political dialogue.
The ministers stated that for the development of this area, the parties have the necessary mechanisms of interaction, such as the Interstate Coordination Council, the Intergovernmental Commission for the Comprehensive Consideration of Issues of Bilateral Cooperation, and the Council of Foreign Ministers.
The officials paid special attention to the issue of delimitation and demarcation of the state border. In this context, they noted the positive work of the topographic working groups of the two countries.
Muhriddin noted that Tajikistan is still full of determination to search for mutually acceptable solutions through negotiations and taking into account its national interests, to progressively resolve issues related to the state border with Kyrgyzstan. They emphasized that in order to further expand and deepen bilateral relations, the parties will soon hold inter-ministerial consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
The ministers also discussed their interaction within international organizations, primarily the UN, CIS, SCO, CSTO, OSCE, and CICA.
Following the meeting, the officials stated the importance of preserving and enhancing the centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighborliness between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
