Tajik and Turkmen Foreign Ministers Meet in Ashgabat

DUSHANBE, 29.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On Friday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in Ashgabat.
The parties exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues.
The ministers also noted the need to accelerate the implementation of the agreements reached during President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to Turkmenistan in August 2021.
They paid particular attention to enhancing cooperation in such important areas as the economy, trade, fuel, energy sector, transportation, logistics, agriculture, water management, light, and processing industries.
The parties noted an increase in the volume of mutual trade and expressed mutual readiness to expand and diversify trade in the near future.
The meeting also focused on cooperation within the framework of the UN and its structures, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), as well as other regional organizations.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan Farrukh Sharifzoda.
