Tajikistan’s Delegation Takes Part in Discussion on Disaster Risk Reduction in Portugal

DUSHANBE, 24.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – A delegation of Tajikistan headed by the Сhairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Rustam Nazarzoda is taking part in the 2021 European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR), which began today in the Portuguese city of Matosinho. The forum will run until November 26.
The forum will focus on the need to address the systemic, growing and compound nature of risks, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and climate emergency.
The forum is organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction in collaboration with the Portuguese National Office for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense and the European Commission.
The forum will become an important mechanism for addressing disaster risk.
The event is being held with the participation of a number of stakeholders in the spirit of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
This will provide an opportunity for governments and experts to share experiences on good practices and innovative approaches to prevent, reduce and manage the risks of natural disasters.
The Council of Europe’s Deputy Secretary General Björn Berge is expected to address the participants through a video message.
