CESCD, JICA to expand cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction
DUSHANBE, 21.03.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Rustam Nazarzoda, Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /CESCD/ under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has met with the newly appointed Head of the Representative office of Japanese International Cooperation Agency /JICA/ in Tajikistan Hideki Tanabe here in Dushanbe on March 20.
According to the CESCD press centre, the head of CESCD has congratulated H. Tanabe on his appointment and noted the fruitful and successful cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan in the field of disaster risk reduction. Rustam Nazarzoda told about the ongoing work in the field of emergency management in the country, as well as on international cooperation with relevant agencies of foreign countries in this field.
Head of JICA H. Tanabe hoped that mutual cooperation between the Governments of Japan and Tajikistan will be continuously strengthened.
During the meeting the two parties have discussed issues of further cooperation between CESCD and JICA in the field of disaster risk reduction, namely the implementation of projects in the field of disaster risk reduction and ensuring the safety of population and territories from emergency situations of natural and technogenic character, as well as training and retraining of specialists.
The parties have also expressed their hope for further development of cooperation between CESCD and JICA in Tajikistan in the field of disaster risk reduction.
