Tajikistan and Japan Discuss the Need to Establish Sister Cities

DUSHANBE, 26.04.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On April 24, Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda met with the Mayor of Kumamoto City of Japan Kazufumi Onishi.
The parties exchanged views on the possibilities of expanding bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan and the need to establish sister city relations.
Onishi was invited to the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028 (6-9 June 2022) in Dushanbe as the head of the host city of the Fourth Asia-Pacific Water Summit.
On the same day, the Tajik delegation met with Member of the House of Representatives and former Minister of Justice of Japan Yoko Kamikawa.
The meeting focused on the preparatory process for the Second Dushanbe Water Conference, its key tasks, and the role of the UN Conference on the Comprehensive Midterm Review of the Water Decade.
