FM Muhriddin Meets SCO Secretary General Ming

DUSHANBE, 23.05.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming who is in Tajikistan on an official visit.
The meeting focused on multilateral cooperation of SCO member states in the political, trade, economic, and humanitarian areas, as well as in the field of countering challenges and threats and expanding organization’s international relations.
The parties had a thorough exchange of views on the joint activities of the states of the SCO family in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and cross-border crime.
In this context, they noted the relevance of further work on the implementation of Tajikistan’s initiative to establish the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe.
Ming emphasized the historical significance of the results of last year’s SCO summit in Dushanbe, which was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the organization.
Muhriddin wished the newly appointed Secretary General success in the implementation of his mission and confirmed the readiness of the Tajik side to provide him with all possible assistance.
