DUSHANBE, 12.05.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, as part of an official visit to Ashgabat, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tajikistan, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali was received by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Initially, Rustam Emomali congratulated the newly elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his election to a high post and conveyed President Emomali Rahmon’s warm and sincere greetings.

The meeting focused on a wide range of priority issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, including the state of trade, economic and humanitarian relations.

Also, role of inter-parliamentary relations in expanding bilateral relations between the two countries was considered as an important.

It was noted that friendly relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are developing on a broad legal basis. Turkmenistan is gradually becoming one of the leading foreign economic partners of Tajikistan.

The parties expressed interest in improving the effectiveness of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and expanding economic ties through the implementation of the Intergovernmental Program for Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2021-2023.

They also paid attention to expanding cooperation in the fields of energy and fuel, transport and communications, industry and agriculture, including from the complete processing of cotton to the production of finished products, as well as education and culture.

In order to promote the strengthening of cultural ties, it was proposed to organize and hold Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Tajikistan in 2022-2023.

The parties exchanged views on the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the political sphere, including the political situation in the region.

Following the meeting, Rustam Emomali, on behalf of President of Tajikistan, invited the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to pay an official visit to Tajikistan. The invitation was accepted with satisfaction.
