Tajik Delegation Attends European Development Days in Brussels

DUSHANBE, 23.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – From June 21 through June 22, the official delegation of Tajikistan headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Usmonali Usmonzoda attended the event dedicated to the European Development Days in Brussels, reports the Embassy of Tajikistan in Belgium.
Usmonzoda was accompanied by First Deputy Minister of Finance Jamshed Karimzoda and Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the European Union, Ambassador of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Belgium Erkinkhon Rahmatullozoda.
Usmonzoda took part and delivered speech at the event dedicated to the theme Global Gateway: Building a Sustainable Partnership for a United World.
He called the holding of this forum appropriate and useful and stressed that the regional energy mix will lead to the development of cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union and will help improve the living standards and socio-economic situation of the population of the region.
The session Global Gateway in Central Asia was also attended by the Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan Asset Irgaliyev, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic Erkinbek Osoev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abduhakimov, high-ranking representative of the European Union, EU Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen, as well as Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Mark Bowman.
The European Union’s new Global Gateway initiative has been announced as a comprehensive international investment strategy to strengthen ties in digitalization, energy, health, education and transport around the world.
On the sidelines of the event, Usmonzoda met with EU Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen, Vice President of the European Investment Bank Ricardo Mourinho Felix, Director General for International Partnership of the European Commission Kuen Duns, representatives of the World Bank, the EBRD and other officials, during which the parties exchanged views on expanding cooperation and prospects for relations in the energy sector, including the construction of large energy facilities.
