DUSHANBE, 26.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali received the head of the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan Marilyn Josefsson due to the completion of her diplomatic mission.

The meeting focused on the development of cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU, including inter-parliamentary relations.

Rustam Emomali expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU in the political, economic and cultural spheres, and in the field of security.

He noted the contribution of Josefsson to the development and expansion of relations between the EU and Tajikistan.

Speaker of the National Assembly expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the EU to Tajikistan during the spread of COVID-19, as well as for the EU’s support for Tajikistan’s global initiatives on water and climate change issues.

While discussing important issues of political, trade, economic, socio-cultural relations, the parties assessed the need to use a wide range of opportunities in the fields of industry, mining, infrastructure, hydropower, agriculture, and tourism.

With an emphasis on the current situation in Afghanistan, they also discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism, arms and drug smuggling, cybercrime, and other manifestations of cross-border organized crime.
