Tajik Delegation Attends Annual Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developed Countries

DUSHANBE, 23.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, on the sidelines of the High Level Week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part in the 21st Annual Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developed Countries (LLDCs).
He expressed his opinion on topical issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Group of LLDCs, in particular on water, energy, transportation, and the socio-economic and environmental interaction of these countries.
Muhriddin also mentioned the importance of implementing the Vienna Program of Action as an important element in integrating LLDCs towards achieving the 2030 Agenda and its goals.
In this regard, he focused on Tajikistan’s global initiatives to declare 2025 as the International Year for the Protection of Glaciers and creation of the International Fund for the Protection of Glaciers under the auspices of the UN.
