DUSHANBE, 06.10.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The financing and the grant agreements were signed between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the International Development Association concurrently on October 3 at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Agreements were signed on the basis of the Improvement of Water Resources Management Project in Tajikistan.
The documents were inked by the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kahhorzoda, and the Country Manager of the World Bank for Tajikistan Ozan Sevimli. The total cost of the project is $47.34 million.
Its goal is to increase the resilience of critical highways and strengthen capacity related to natural disaster risk management.
The implementation of this project started in 2023 and its completion is planned to take place in 2027.
Kahhorzoda and Sevimli also signed the agreement on financing between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Development Association.
Agreements were signed on the basis of the implementation of the Tajikistan Water Supply and Sanitation Project.
The purpose of the project is to improve access to drinking water and sanitation in certain districts, as well as to strengthen the capacity of water supply and sanitation institutions.
The total cost of the Project is $45 million, which will be fully financed by the World Bank through grant funds.
