Tajik Delegation Attends Seventh India Water Week

DUSHANBE, 04.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On November 1, the 7th India Water Week on the theme «Water security for sustainable development based on equality» was launched in the city of Noida. The event is being attending by Tajikistan’s delegation headed by the First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Jamshed Shoimzoda.
President of India and other high-ranking officials of this country took part in the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Shoimzoda in his speech at the plenary session emphasized the progress and problems in the field of water and water’s important role in the sustainable development of society.
He emphasized the importance of the UN Conference on the midterm review of the International Decade of Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028» in solving the issues and problems of the water sector.
On the margins of India Water Week (IWW), various activities were held in the form of master classes, panel sessions, special sessions and an exhibition of technologies, the latest developments and solutions available in the various areas related to water security.
Shoimzoda also took part in the opening ceremony of the IWW exhibition and got acquainted with the achievements and potentials of this country in the field of water resources management.
On the sidelines of IWW, he met with the Minister of Water Resources of India Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the Secretary-General of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage Ashwin Pandaya.
The meetings focused on the ways and opportunities for strengthening beneficial cooperation in the field of water management.
