Tajik Embassy in Ankara Initiates Briefing on UN 2023 Water Conference

DUSHANBE, 25.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Embassies of of Tajikistan, the Netherlands and the Office of the UN Permanent Coordinator in Ankara held a briefing on the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the Objectives of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028.”
In his speech, the Ambassador of Tajikistan Ashrafjon Gulov provided a brief information about the UN-2023 Water Conference, which will be held in New York on March 22-24, 2023, and introduced the participants the international initiatives of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the water sector, in particular with the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028.”
He noted that, along with this initiative, another proposal of the President of Tajikistan is also in the process of implementation to create an International Fund for the Protection of Glaciers and declare 2025 the International Year of Glacier Protection.
Also, officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and other relevant authorities of Tajikistan and the Netherlands delivered presentations on the content of the International Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028,” the process of preparation for the conference, program, concept, as well as other aspects of it.
