Dushanbe Hosts Meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on Economic Cooperation

DUSHANBE, 26.12.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On December 24, Dushanbe hosted the third meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia on Economic, Trade, Investment, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation.
The meeting was headed by the Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management Sadi Kodirzoda and the Minister of Investments of Saudi Arabia Khalid al-Falih.
It focused on important issues of bilateral cooperation, including in the field of economy and trade, investment, industry, transport, education, science, agriculture, migration, energy, water resources, healthcare, culture, sports, and tourism.
The co-chairs gave useful recommendations to state bodies and economic entities of the two states on strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and creating favorable conditions for increasing bilateral trade turnover.
The parties came to an agreement on strengthening cooperation in the direction of attracting mutual investments, creating joint ventures, and on this basis, strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation for the implementation of joint investment projects.
Also, as part of the meeting, on December 24, Dushanbe hosted an investment forum of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
The forum was attended by representatives of more than 200 companies and enterprises from various fields of economic activity of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia, including energy, construction, transport, logistics, agriculture, finance, banking, telecommunications, insurance, trade. Heads and representatives of state ministries and departments were also in attendence.
Participants were introduced to the investment opportunities of both countries in various industries.
Along with this, entrepreneurs of both countries held B2B meetings.
As a result of the meetings, cooperation documents were signed between the business circles of both countries.
In addition, investors of Saudi Arabia were given the opportunity to visit the industrial enterprises of Dushanbe.
