Astana Hosts a Briefing and an Exhibition Dedicated to the Preparations for the UN Water Conference

DUSHANBE, 14.03.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Yestreday, per initiative of the diplomatic missions of Tajikistan and the Netherlands in Kazakhstan, a briefing and an exhibition dedicated to the United Nations Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Achievement of the Goals of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” were held in Astana.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kazakhstan gave brief information about the UN Water Conference in 2023 and informed the participants about the global water initiatives of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The Ambassador noted that the international event will be chaired by President Emomali Rahmon and King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander, which reflects the special importance of the global water agenda.
The event was attended by a wide range of representatives of the diplomatic corps, heads and employees of international organizations accredited to Kazakhstan, and the media.
The UN Water Conference will be held from March 22 through March 24, 2023 in New York under the chairmanship of Tajikistan and the Netherlands.
This event is considered the first UN Water Conference of its kind since the 1977 High Level Water Conference in Mar del Plata.
