Farms of the Jayhun District Send 400 Tons of Early Onions to the Country’s Markets

DUSHANBE, 19.04.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – About 400 tons of early onions from the business executives of the Jayhun district arrived at the markets of cities and districts of the country, which contributed to a decrease in prices for these essential goods.
Within 10 days leading farmers began to harvest onions and reduced its cost to 3 and 3.5 somoni.
According to Kudbiddin Aminov, a specialist of the Department of Agriculture of the Jayhun district, this year the farmers planted early onions of the Tunis variety on an area of 3,400 hectares and have harvested more than 20 hectares to this day.
“The onion harvest in the fields is plentiful, farmers get a crop of 400-450 centners from 1 hectare,” he added.
