Somon Air Discusses the Possibility of Acquiring a Chinese Aircraft Y-12E

DUSHANBE, 15.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The management of Somon Air and China’s AVIC INTL discussed possible options and ways to finance the transaction for the purchase of a Y-12E aircraft in case of interest from Somon Air.
The parties decided to proceed with the analysis of the compliance of the technical, economic and commercial characteristics of this project and continue talks in the medium term.
Y12 aircraft are light multi-purpose high-performance aircraft manufactured by China Aviation Industrial Corporation (AVIC). The Y-12 aircraft has 18-20 seats and performs cargo and passenger transportation.
AVIC International Holding Corporation is a large Chinese trading company mainly specialized in the aviation industry. It is part of the State Aircraft Industry Corporation of China.
Somon Air currently operates flights from Tajikistan to Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkiye, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The airline’s fleet operates Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft.
