Antonella Bassani: The World Bank Is Ready to further strengthen Сooperation with Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 05.06.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The World Bank is ready to further strengthen cooperation with Tajikistan. This was stated by Antonella Bassani, the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, following a meeting with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
She said that it is her first visit to Tajikistan as World Bank Vice President.
“The visit is part of a historic event — the 30th anniversary of partnership between the Government of Tajikistan and the World Bank,” Bassani added.
According to her, currently, the World Bank is implementing 26 projects worth $1.6 billion.
Bassani stressed that she had a fruitful meeting with the President Emomali Rahmon, during which useful conversations were held on productive cooperation.
“The World Bank has established cooperation with Tajikistan in the areas of energy, water supply, human progress, economic development, aimed at improving and ensuring a decent life for the people of Tajikistan,” noted the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia.
“The World Bank side expressed its readiness to provide support to Tajikistan in the future. I am sure that this cooperation will contribute to the development of Tajikistan until 2030,” she concluded.
