Tajik Delegation Attends the Roads to Paris International Conference

DUSHANBE, 16.06.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Vienna hosted an International Conference on the theme “Roads to Paris.”
The conference was initiated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in collaboration with the World Environment Fund (GEF).
It was attended by more than 200 representatives of central banks, international financial organizations, commercial banks, investors and other stakeholders in the capital markets of Asia, Europe and North Africa, including representatives of the National Bank of Tajikistan led by First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Firdavs Tolibzoda.
The conference provided ample opportunity to identify new routes and explore best practices in climate risk management, strengthening the capacity of financial institutions and corporate climate change management, transition planning and expanding green finance operations.
An exchange of views took place between representatives of European Central/National Banks, Georgia, Egypt, Armenia, Morocco, Montenegro, the European Commission, the Network of Central Banks and Observers on Greening the Financial System (NGFS), the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Bank al Etihad (Jordanian lending institution) JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, African Bank, Swedish Bank and Turkiye Banking Regulatory Agency.
It was discussed the issues of developing climate adaptation strategies, preparing plans for the transition to a green economy, managing risks and existing opportunities in the field of innovation and information technology, developing the green securities market, accelerating the growth of the potential of investment markets and green lending in various sectors of the economy by leading financial institutions.
Arvand Bank received a silver prize in the annual competition of the EBRD on sustainable development and solving environmental and social problems, improving energy efficiency and combating climate change.
