Tajikistan and Azerbaijan Hold Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation

DUSHANBE, 10.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan was held on July 7 in Baku.
The meeting was attended by heads of relevant ministries and departments of both countries.
It was focused on the state and prospects for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, finance, investment and the private sector, banking, transport, agriculture, energy, tourism, education, culture, healthcare, and sports.
In order to fulfill the instructions of the presidents of the two countries, the parties agreed to implement specific projects in the field of strengthening trade and economic cooperation, the creation of joint industrial enterprises, including in the free economic zones of Tajikistan, the supply of crude oil from Azerbaijan for the needs of the oil refinery of the Dangara free economic zone, raising capital for the reconstruction of OJSC “Tajik Aluminum Company,” exporting aluminum, cryolite and aluminum fluoride from Tajikistan to Azerbaijan, importing alumina from Azerbaijan to Tajikistan, processing agricultural products, providing discounts for transportation by rail, developing tourism, exploration of deposits in Tajikistan and increasing bilateral trade.
