Rustam Emomali Meets the Chinese Vice President Han Zheng

DUSHANBE, 22.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, in continuation of the official visit to China, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with the Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
The meeting focused on the state and prospects for the development of bilateral interstate relations, as well as topical regional and international issues.
It was emphasized that the development of multilateral relations with China is a priority of the foreign policy of Tajikistan and the China is a reliable strategic partner for Tajikistan in the regional and international arena.
In this context, it was expressed satisfaction with the close relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the National Assembly and the Chinese National People’s Congress, as well as the effective activities of the friendship groups of Tajikistan and China.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan supports China’s strategic initiative “One Belt, One Road”, within which it has an optimistic view of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at the main interests of the two states and their friendly peoples.
The parties considered it expedient at the stage of Tajikistan’s transition to an industrial-agrarian development model to increase the innovative potential of production in all sectors of the economy of Tajikistan and the implementation of important infrastructure projects using China’s scientific and industrial technologies.
It was noted with satisfaction the steady growth of Chinese investment in Tajikistan, especially in important sectors of the national economy, such as mining, energy, transport and agriculture.
The parties also exchanged views on increasing the volume of exports of agricultural products to China, strengthening the participation of the Chinese business sector in the activities of the free economic zones of Tajikistan, the implementation of energy projects, roads and transport, irrigation and the expansion of transit corridors.
The meeting also focused on cultural and humanitarian issues, increasing the number of grants and scholarships of the Chinese Government for Tajikistan and attracting investment in the tourism infrastructure of Tajikistan.
While considering the difficult situation in the world, transnational threats and dangers, especially the alarming situation in Afghanistan, the parties considered it necessary to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of security, strengthen joint efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, radicalism, drug trafficking and other manifestations of cross-border organized crime.
Rustam Emomali invited Han Zheng to pay an official visit to Tajikistan, who accepted the invitation with sincerity and satisfaction.
