DUSHANBE, 10.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – For the first time, a 10-year-old girl diagnosed with tracheal cancer successfully underwent a rare operation — a circular dissection of the trachea with an end-to-end anastomosis at the Republican Scientific Center of Oncology of Tajikistan.
According to the surgeon Jovid Jamshedov, previously in Tajikistan, patients with tracheal cancer underwent only symptomatic operations, a tracheostomy tube was installed for breathing, unfortunately, patients with this disease did not live long. Because the trachea is located between the larynx and the main bronchi, air enters the lungs through it, as a result of which, if there is swelling inside, patients cannot breathe.
The operated girl’s health condition is stable and she was discharged home.
