DUSHANBE, 08.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi.

It was emphasized that the development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with Iran is one of the priority areas of the foreign policy of Tajikistan.

It was noted the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan pays special attention to effective and fruitful cooperation with Iran and, through friendship groups, resolves issues related to legislation, the expansion of economic ties and other issues important for peoples and states. For this purpose, a friendship group was formed between the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan and the Islamic Consultative Council of Iran.

It was mentioned that in order to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation and historical relations between the two states, a Memorandum was signed in 2011, which laid the real foundation for strengthening ties and mutual friendly relations between the two countries.

It was also emphasized that expanding relations and cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe is of great importance.
