Preparations for Tajikistan’s Chairmanship of the CIS in 2025 Discussed in Moscow and Minsk

DUSHANBE, 12.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – From February 7 through February 9, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan led by the head of the ministry’s Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries Ahmad Saidmurodzoda held a series of meetings in Moscow and Minsk to discuss issues of preparation for the upcoming chairmanship of Tajikistan in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2025.
In particular, on February 7, Tajik-Russian ministerial consultations were held in Moscow at the level of heads of structural divisions, during which a detailed exchange of views took place on current issues on the Commonwealth’s agenda, and the main tasks of interaction between the two countries were outlined in the context of Russia’s chairmanship in the CIS in 2024 and Tajikistan in 2025.
On February 8, Minsk hosted a meeting of the Tajik delegation with the First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Leonid Anfimov.
The meeting focused on general proposals for the Concept of Tajikistan’s future chairmanship in the Commonwealth and mechanisms for its implementation.
On February 9, the annual ministerial consultations on the topic “On interaction within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2024” were held in Minsk, during which a draft Plan of multi-level consultations was agreed upon and the progress in implementing the Action Program to enhance partnerships between the foreign policy departments of the CIS was reviewed.
It was took place an exchange of views on the implementation of the Regulations on observer status in the CIS and the status of a CIS partner.
