DUSHANBE, 21.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On February 21, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with the President of the Russian Federation, Honorable Vladimir Putin, in the city of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation.
The current state and prospects of bilateral relations, as well as specific international and regional issues were discussed at the meeting.
The President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, expressed his satisfaction with the occasion to meet and congratulated the Russian side for organizing and holding the international tournament «Future Games» at a high level.
The heads of the two states highly commended the results of the official top-level negotiations between Tajikistan and Russia, which were held in Moscow in November 2023, as well as the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission held in December last year.
It was mentioned that in 2023, the volume of bilateral trade increased by 2.5% and reached 1 billion 800 million US dollars, and Russia maintained its leadership position in the total volume of foreign trade of Tajikistan.
A number of urgent issues in other areas of interest, such as energy, agriculture, investment, migration, education and culture, were also discussed and the necessary agreements were reached.
