DUSHANBE, 23.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On March 22, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part and delivered a speech via video message in the conference on the occasion of World Water Day entitled “Water for Peace.”
Muhriddin noted that for more than two decades, Tajikistan has been actively advocating the water agenda through its water-related initiatives.
«Our global initiatives, endorsed by the UN General Assembly, have played an important role in promoting water issues at various levels, stimulating dialogue and action towards achieving internationally agreed water goals and targets, including those set out in the Sustainable Development Agenda for the period until 2030. In March 2023, during the UN Water Conference, Tajikistan made a number of voluntary commitments, including using the Dushanbe Water Process platform to further implement the outcomes of the 2023 UN Water Conference and the Water Action Agenda,» he added.
It should be noted that the Dushanbe Water Process, an initiative of the Government of Tajikistan, aims to support the goals of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” through biennial conferences held by Tajikistan and UN DESA.
“Tajikistan remains committed to advancing the water agenda and invites all partners to actively participate in the 3rd Dushanbe Water Conference to contribute to the implementation of new commitments and actions related to water,” minister emphasized.
