Tajikistan, U.S. interbank cooperation discusses in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 09.07.2024 /NIAT «Khovar»/. The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdavs Tolibzoda, held a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Manuel P. Micaller to discussed current issues regarding bilateral cooperation.
The conversation covered key macroeconomic indicators, the country’s banking system, inflation stability, and the national currency exchange rate. Participants also exchanged views on financial stability strengthening, expanding access to financial services, implementing IFRS provisions, and assessing the quality of internal audits conducted during the three phases of technical assistance under the ‘Increasing Financial Integrity and Strengthening Financial Stability and Inclusion in Tajikistan’ project. It was noted development of the fourth stage of technical assistance is in progress, focusing on enhancing the monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of key indicators related to financial stability.
Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, affirmed continued cooperation to enhance monetary, credit, and financial sector stability. This includes securing technical and advisory support, optimizing macroprudential policy, assessing systemic risks, strengthening financial institution regulation and oversight, bolstering information security and combating cyber threats, promoting securities market development, and reinforcing payment system control. These efforts will also focus on implementing the 2022-2026 National Financial Inclusion Strategy.
The parties also discussed enhancing interbank relations between Tajikistan and the USA banks, and showed their willingness for mutually beneficial cooperation and transparent communication.
