Dushanbe hosts international conference “Monitoring of Glaciers and Glacial Lakes — Risk Management”

DUSHANBE, 28.08.2024 /NIAT Khovar/. Dushanbe has hosted The international conference “Monitoring of glaciers and glacial lakes — risk management”, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of Tajikistan reports.
The representatives of a number of ministries and departments of the republic, international organizations, industry scientists and experts are invited to the Conference.
It was noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, today Tajikistan is recognized in the international arena as a leading country and promotes global initiatives in the field of climate and water. This is confirmed by the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution «Declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection» and March 21 as «World Glacier Day».
At the same time, the adoption of the resolution “Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences 2025-2034” of August 13, 2024 is among them. This creates a favorable basis for international cooperation and drawing the attention of the world community to the critical issues of glacier and cryosphere conservation.
