DUSHANBE, 30.08.2024 /NIAT Khovar/. On August 30, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon arrived in the city of Norak on a working trip.

The visit of the Head of State began with familiarization with the modernization process of the Norak hydropower plant and the commissioning of the fourth unit after its renovation.

It was reported that the renovation works of the «Norak» HPP began in 2019, and a total amount of 35 million 193 thousand euros was allocated for the completion of the works.

The production capacity of the fourth hydro unit of the power plant after the renovation will reach 8 million 266 thousand 519 kWh of electricity per day.

The modernized unit was put into operation by the Honorable Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon by pressing a button in a ceremonial atmosphere, and the reliable operation of the unit was evaluated by placing a coin on it as meeting the requirements of international standards.

Honorable Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, instructed the officials to complete the renovation of other units and technical equipment within the project with high quality and within the specified timeline.

Currently, the first stage of renovation works is ongoing in the power plant, within which renovation of 3 other hydraulic units of the power plant, its main and auxiliary equipment, replacement of 27 lifting cranes, renovation of 3 electric loops of the underground complex, replacement of elevators, repair of lower floodgates, renovation of spherical floodgates, the modernization of the pumping stations of the power plant, the renewal of the management and control system have been completed, and in general, the Norak power plant will undergo almost a complete renovation.

To date, in the framework of the project, in addition to the complete modernization of two hydroelectric units of the power plant, the open distribution device of 220 and 500 kV (kilovolt) was changed to the closed distribution device of gas, and the completion of this measure improved the quality of production and services.

Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon got acquainted with the process of works performed on the spherical floodgate of hydraulic unit No. 4.

The spherical floodgate is the main part of the hydraulic unit, when it is opened, water enters the spiral chamber and the hydraulic unit rotates through the wheel.

Currently, preparatory work is underway in the facility to upgrade the next hydraulic unit with the involvement of employees and specialists of the «Andritz» company and its subcontractor, the «TojikSGEM» Open Joint-Stock Company.

In addition, the renovation works at hydromechanical devices of the hydrotechnical facilities, the replacement of autotransformers and the monitoring of the dam by domestic and foreign companies are in progress at the power plant.

We remind that the first hydro unit of the power plant was put into use after renovation on October 24, 2022 with the participation of the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon and is now operating with a capacity of 375 MW.
