DUSHANBE, 28.09.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 28, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with the workers of «Rogun» Hydropower Plant and activists of the city of Rogun.

After visiting the place of construction of the power plant and getting acquainted with the process of construction works, the Head of State made an in-depth analysis and set specific tasks for the workers to expand the works and control the quality.

The President of the country emphasized that «Rogun» Hydropower Plant lays a solid foundation for achieving energy independence of Tajikistan, stable economic development of the country, raising the level and quality of life of the people and progress and prosperity of our homeland.

Honorable Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon stated that we declared «Rogun» as the crucial construction of the century for good reason.

According to the President of the country, it is vitally important for our country to complete the construction of the power plant as soon as possible and to fully commission its capacities.

In this regard, the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon once again set the task for the workers and specialists of the power plant to speed up the process of construction works using economic and financial conditions and modern machinery and technologies, and to build the facility in compliance with international standards, the next capacities of the power plant must be completed within the stipulated time.

Honorable Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon mentioned that 7.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity have been produced through the first two units of the power plant since 2018-2019 and have been transferred to the unified energy system of the country.

It was emphasized that in general, during the period of 2008-2024, the Government of the country allocated more than 42.5 billion somoni from the state budget and other sources for the construction and restoration of the power plant.

Currently, more than 17,000 engineering and technical workers are working on the construction of the power plant, which is 3,000 more than in the same period last year.

The number of machines and mechanisms used in construction has increased to 3843 units, including 400 new powerful machines and mechanisms that were introduced to the construction site during 2023-2024.

The power plant’s infrastructure is divided into separate lots, the implementation of which is directly dependent on each other, and a delay in one of the lots causes an obstacle in the work of other areas.

From this point of view, the Honorable President of the country Emomali Rahmon considered it necessary that the customer — Joint Stock Company «Rogun Hydropower Plant» and the contractors «Tractebel», «Webuild», «Tajikgidroelektromontazh», «Tunel Saddi Oriono» and «Experimental Mechanical Plant» of the city of Nurak better organize and ensure the stability of the flow of work between the lots.

Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon, in order to complete the construction works of the «Rogun» HPP within the specified time, to ensure their quality and to put the next capacities of the power plant into use set specific tasks before the Board of Supervisors of the «Rogun» Hydroelectric Power Plant Open Joint-Stock Company, the «Rogun» HPP OJSC, Republican Headquarters for the Construction and Utilization of «Rogun» HPP, Ministry of Finance, Committee for Architecture and Construction, Group for Implementation of Construction Projects of Energy Facilities, State Institution «Rogun Hydropower Plant Flood Area Management» and other relevant ministries and agencies.

At the end of the speech, the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, once again wished health and success to the workers of the power plant to reach even better and happier days.

After the speech of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, General Director of OJSC «Rogun” HPP Khairullo Safarzoda, Representative of the «Webuild» Company in the Republic of Tajikistan Fabio Guerino, General Director of OJSC «Tajikgidroelektromontazh» Iqbol Safarov, Director of the CJSC «Experimental Mechanical Plant» of Norak city Khujamurod Azimov and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda reported to the Head of State on the implementation of construction works at the Rogun HPP.
