DUSHANBE, 13.07.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 12, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with leaders and activists of Tojikobod district.

Honorable President of the country Emomali Rahmon sincerely congratulated the hardworking people of the district on the great historical holiday — 33rd anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.

It was emphasized that since the beginning of the independence period, the Government of the country has declared continuous support and comprehensive development of remote mountainous regions as the priority direction of its activity, and over the past 33 years, it has implemented all the necessary measures in this way.

Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon stated that during independence, 13 state investment projects worth 400 million somoni were implemented in Tojikobod district, and now 5 more projects are being implemented, within which 26 million somoni have been spent so far.

As part of the Social and Economic Development Program of Tojikobod district for 2021-2025, the implementation of 196 projects for the total amount of 139 million somoni is planned to improve the living conditions of the residents. Within this program, 86 projects worth 72 million somoni have been implemented so far, which is 52 percent of the program.

Honorable Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, mentioned the constructive measures of the people of the district, especially the patriotic businessmen, to welcome the 35th anniversary of the State Independence, and said that the construction and renovation of 101 facilities were planned in Tojikobod district, and work has been completed on 41 facilities so far. 

The President of the country called the initiative of businessmen and generous people an example of the constructive policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in terms of solidarity and harmony.

The leadership of the executive authorities of the district received an order from the Head of State to expand the work with the relevant ministries and agencies in order to implement the action plan.

It was emphasized that agriculture is the priority sector of Tojikobod district and plays an important role in ensuring food security, access of the population to quality food and providing employment to the population.

The executive authorities of the district and relevant ministries and agencies were obliged to take necessary measures in this direction.

In relation to the situation in the transport sector, especially in order to pull the country out of communication deadlock and turn the Rasht Valley into the eastern gateway of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation considered the implementation of the Rogun-Obigarm-Nurobod highway construction project as one of the important areas of the Government’s constructive plan for the development of the Rasht Valley districts and Badakhshan Mountainous Autonomous Province.

Support for the development of education, healthcare, tourism, effective use of existing resources and opportunities and ensuring sustainable economic and social progress of the district were other topics of the meeting, on which the President of the country deliberated before the meeting participants.

At the meeting, after the speech of the Honorable Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, residents of the district, youth and veterans spoke with gratitude for the comprehensive unity and independence, and raised their questions and requests.
