President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon inspected progress at Roghun HPP’ protective dam

DUSHANBE, 27.09.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 27, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the Chairman of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustam Emomali, got acquainted with the process of removing stones and gravel in the protective dam at the monitoring site of the Obi Shur River at «Rogun» HPP.
The protective dam was built in order to prevent the risk of flooding in Obi Shur, which occurs every year during the rainy season.
During an introduction to the process of operation at the Obi Shur protective dam, the Honorable Head of the State Emomali Rahmon was informed that the cleaning of the dam will be done using 70 powerful industrial vehicles and with the involvement of 100 local specialists.
In order to ensure the protective capacity of the dam at the required level, it is necessary to remove stones, gravel and other sediments in the amount of 350 thousand cubic meters, and the works performed so far amount to 50 thousand cubic meters.
We remind that the Obi Shur protection dam was built 1500 meters above the river bank at the outlet of the power plant’s spillway tunnels.
Its foundation prevents the entry of heavy stones into the spillway tunnels of the plant and actively contributes to the regular operation of the facility of the century – «Rogun» HPP.
Here the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon was informed that for the purpose of building new protection structures in the upper tributaries of Obi Shur, specialists will start exploration works.
In case of completion of research work and identification of suitable areas by domestic companies, the construction of additional protective structures will be started.
Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon tasked the officials to carry out accurate research, emphasizing that the quality performance of work in all areas of the power plant proves professionalism, responsibility and real loyalty to the nation and the state.
Since effective contribution to the construction of «Rogun» HPP, which is considered the largest school in the field of training specialists in the field of hydropower, will be a big step towards achieving energy independence, development of the national economy and ensuring a decent life for every citizen of the Motherland.
