President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon meets with Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani

DUSHANBE, 03.10.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On October 2, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the city of Doha within the framework of the 3rd Summit of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue under the title «Sports Diplomacy».
At the meeting, a range of issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar were discussed.
The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, expressed satisfaction with the high-level meetings, which are a high indicator of trust and brotherhood between Tajikistan and Qatar. «Expanding cooperation with the State of Qatar in the spheres of economy, trade and investment is one of the priorities of Tajikistan’s foreign policy,» — the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized.
Promising areas of relations between the two countries were named as energy, industry, agriculture, banking, tourism, transport and communications.
Both sides expressed their support for the intensification of the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. It was recognized as important to attract Qatari investments, including funds from the Qatar Fund for Development in various sectors of the economy of our country, including the construction of electricity generation facilities in Tajikistan.
It was emphasized that the creation of joint production enterprises in various industries, including food, will serve the interests of both sides.
Other topics of the meeting were the training of professional specialists for the service sector with the creation of a Language Study Center in Tajikistan, the development of cooperation in the fields of culture, science and education, and holding Culture Days.
It was considered important to expand inter-parliamentary ties and intensify the parliamentary friendship group.
An exchange of views also took place on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
