On December 24, in St. Petersburg, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, held a working meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Honorable Vladimir Putin.
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of Tajik-Russian relations.
The Honorable Emomali Rahmon first thanked the President of the Russian Federation for the invitation and warm welcome.
The heads of both states congratulated each other on the approaching New Year.
During the consideration of issues of cooperation between the two countries, it was noted, in particular, that based on the results of this year, Russia remains the main economic and trade partner of Tajikistan. The turnover of goods between the two countries increased by 19.8%, reaching 1.79 billion US dollars.
As noted, cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, science and technology, education and culture is also steadily expanding.
Issues of cooperation in ensuring security and stability, including information security, were in the center of attention.
A fruitful discussion also took place on the development of cooperation within international and regional organizations, including the CIS, the chairmanship of which will pass to Tajikistan starting from the new year.
