DUSHANBE, 28.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 28, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund — UNICEF, Ms. Catherine Mary Russell, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the first International High-Level Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
The meeting discussed the development of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNICEF.
It was emphasized that over 30 years of cooperation with UNICEF, Tajikistan has implemented priority programs in the field of maternal and child health, quality education, youth health, social policy reform, and child protection.
Important issues for future cooperation were identified as improving the educational environment, the quality of education for young and preschool children, including through the development of digitalization of the education process.
The UNICEF Executive Director praised the Leader of the Nation’s consistent efforts to cover children with pre-school education, as well as to involve girls in educational processes and the development of the education system in the country as a whole.
