“Since gaining independence, Tajikistan has constructed and commissioned 3,670 new general education institutions, 262 preschools, and 35 higher professional education institutions,” the President stated.
He noted that in 1991, Tajikistan had only 13 universities with 69,000 students. Today, the number of higher education institutions has reached 48, with more than 214,000 students enrolled.
In addition, the country currently operates 153 technical lyceums, colleges, and short-term vocational training centers, educating over 141,000 students. Over 117,000 talented young Tajiks have been sent abroad to pursue degrees at top universities in 42 leading countries around the world.
Currently, more than 42,400 Tajik students are enrolled in prestigious universities overseas.
“These initiatives reflect the enduring support of the state and government of Tajikistan for empowering youth through access to modern sciences, professions, crafts, and quality education,” President Emomali Rahmon emphasized.
