DUSHANBE, 26.06.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – A dust storm is forecasted to impact several regions of Tajikistan from June 26 to 28, according to the Agency for Hydrometeorology.
The phenomenon is expected to affect cities and districts of the Khatlon Region, Districts of Republican Subordination, Dushanbe, northern areas of Sughd Region, and some parts of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
The dust storm is caused by meteorological conditions, including the influx of dusty air masses from the southwest, south, and southeast. As a result, a significant increase in atmospheric pollution is expected, with elevated concentrations of suspended particulate matter, including PM10 (particles with a diameter of 10 microns) and PM2.5 (particles with a diameter of 2.5 microns).
Authorities advise residents, especially those with respiratory conditions, the elderly, and children, to limit outdoor activities, wear protective masks, and ensure proper ventilation indoors.
