DUSHANBE, 26.06.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On June 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, unveiled the statue of the founder of the first Tajik state — Shah Ismoil Somoni in the center of Rushon district.

This facility was built with the funding of the Executive Body of State Power of the Badakhshan Mountainous Autonomous Province and Rushon district on a total area of 1,000 square meters.

This event was held as part of preparations for a worthy celebration of the great and sacred national holiday — 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The height of the statue of Shah Ismoil Somoni is 7 meters and its base is 5 meters, and 4 copies of the books of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, the works of the «Shahnameh», «Tajiks», the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan and photographs of the Heroes of Tajikistan are placed on the square.

The erection of the monument to the founder of the Tajik state, Ismoil Somoni, in the center of the Rushon district adds another beauty to the National Shrine Square, testifying to the preservation and glorification of national values and respect for the past.

During the introduction, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, highly appreciated the work done, and considered the construction of the statue next to the State Flag and Emblem as a good way to honor the historical figures of the Tajik nation.

It was emphasized that the National Shrine Square is one of the main places for holding state and national celebrations and events, and also provides favorable opportunities for residents to relax and entertain.

Attention was paid to the issue of greenery and flowerbeds around the newly built facility, and its territory was decorated with colorful flowers and decorative and shady trees, which adds freshness to the beauty of the flowerbed.

Taking into account the requirements of architecture and urban planning, all the walkways and passages in and around the statue of Ismoil Somoni have been tiled and illuminated.
