DUSHANBE, 04.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 4, in the city of Khankendi, Azerbaijan, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Honorable Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit.
The meeting discussed the current state of cooperation between the two countries and the issues on the summit agenda.
The President of our country Emomali Rahmon stated that the Republic of Tajikistan is committed to strengthening and expanding multifaceted relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran even more than before.
In connection with the recent events in the friendly country, the sincere condolences of the Head of State and the people of Tajikistan to the entire brotherly people of Iran were expressed.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and their development and expansion.
It was considered expedient to continue the implementation of the agreements reached at the previous meeting of the heads of state.
The operation of the Sangtuda-2 Hydropower Plant and the effective resolution of related issues were considered a good example of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
A fruitful discussion was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
