DUSHANBE, 28.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As of July 1, Tajikistan is home to 275,600 bee colonies. In the first six months of this year, the country produced 659 tons of honey, according to a press conference held by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Beekeeping is considered a priority sector in the country. As part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Animal Husbandry in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2027, the state allocated 370,000 somoni from the national budget to the State Unitary Enterprise «Beekeeping of Tajikistan.»
In addition, 250 bee colonies—along with necessary equipment, medications, and feed—were procured and distributed among 100 beekeeping families in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and 150 families across other cities and districts of the country.
It is worth noting that 93 percent of Tajikistan’s territory is mountainous, which provides highly favorable conditions for beekeeping.
