DUSHANBE, 11.09.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – During his working visit to Baljuvon district of Khatlon Province, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, got acquainted with the project for the construction of the Baljuvon-Sari Khosor highway of republican importance.
This road is one of the most important transport infrastructure projects in the region. The implementation of this project will provide a permanent and high-quality transport connection between villages and urban and rural communities of the Baljuvon and Sari Khosor districts, improve the living conditions of the population, and expand the socio-economic opportunities of the region.
The Head of State was informed that the project for the improvement of the Baljuvon-Sari Khosor highway covers a total area of 54.1 kilometers and a width of 10 meters, and is divided into two sections — Section A 30 km. and Section B 24.1 km. has been separated.
The reason for dividing the project road into two sections is attributed to the large volume of work and climatic difficulties. The design work has been fully completed, and a positive conclusion from the state expertise has also been received.
Within the framework of the project, in addition to the road renovation, it is planned to simultaneously construct bridges, water pipes, retaining walls, embankment works, construct roadside ditches, pedestrian paths, install protective walls and lighting lines.
The road construction will be financed by the Government of the country and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
While familiarizing himself with the project, the Head of State emphasized that the high-quality and timely construction of the Baljuvon-Sari Khosor highway will facilitate the movement of residents, the effective use of arable land, of forests, the harvesting of fruits and vegetables, and the development of the tourism industry.
It is worth noting that the construction of the Baljuvon-Sari Khosor highway will lay a solid foundation for attracting foreign tourists, building tourism infrastructure, and developing the industry in this mountainous region of the country, which has unique and fascinating nature, a rich flora and fauna, waterfalls and rushing rivers, healing springs, and historical monuments.
It should be noted that by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Baljuvon was declared a tourist zone, therefore, the construction of highways that meet international standards will contribute to the presentation of Baljuvon’s tourism resources and potential, attracting more and more domestic and foreign tourists to this mountainous region of the country.
During the presentation of the project, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, noted that the development of the local road network is one of the important directions of the constructive policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
