DUSHANBE, 01.09.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 1, in Tianjin, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, met with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Lixiong.

The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, called the contribution of the bank to the development of sustainable infrastructure and strengthening the connectivity of the countries of the region significant.

It was emphasized that the Bank is involved in the implementation of four investment projects in Tajikistan for a total amount of more than $430 million, including the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station and a large 920-meter-long motor bridge in the Nurobod district. In this regard, the AIIB has decided to increase its financing for the Rogun hydroelectric power station to $500 million.

The parties discussed broad opportunities for cooperation in the field of «green» energy, including the construction and modernization of power plants of various capacities and the commissioning of solar and wind installations.

The Bank’s financial support was considered necessary for the implementation of projects in the field of water resources management, flood and landslide risk reduction, and the use of modern control and monitoring technologies.

Great attention was also paid to strengthening transport integration, developing its infrastructure, and modernizing utility systems.

Cooperation to attract private capital, developing innovative forms of financing, and new financial methods were named as promising areas of interaction.
