On November 19, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation,Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with leaders and activists of Sughd Province in the city of Guliston.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, first summarized the achievements of the region’s residents, his working trip to a number of cities and districts, and the progress of development and construction work in cities and districts in honor of the worthy celebration of the 35th anniversary of state independence.

It was emphasized that within the framework of the development and construction work plan in honor of the 35th anniversary of state independence, 12,066 social and industrial facilities and buildings have been built and renovated in the region to date, which is 100.5% of the plan.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, expressed gratitude to the people and honorable entrepreneurs of the region for their patriotic efforts.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, reflected on the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, noting that to date, more than 11 billion somoni have been implemented in the cities and districts of the region within the framework of 92 state investment projects. Currently, in order to further improve the well-being of the region’s residents and make it prosperous and developed, the implementation of 19 other projects is ongoing, within which 2.6 billion somoni have been disbursed.

It was noted that the aforementioned projects are mainly aimed at the construction and equipping of schools, the development of the energy sector, strengthening the agricultural sector, ensuring resilience against natural disasters, and regional economic cooperation in Central Asia through the construction of transport and economic corridors.

When analyzing the results of the socio-economic development of the Sughd Province in the first ten months of this year, it was noted that although the region has implemented 106 percent of the tax collection plan, including social taxes, during this period, the balance of tax debts has a tendency to grow, which requires urgent measures to be taken.

Regarding the situation in the industrial sector in the region, the Head of State instructed officials to take additional measures to attract more investment, develop import-substituting and export-oriented production.

In order to fully and effectively implement state programs in the agricultural sector, the heads of the sector and executive bodies of state power received instructions from the Head of State to take measures for the timely and safe harvesting of autumn crops, especially cotton, as well as to prevent losses in the poultry and beekeeping sectors.

Analyzing the situation in the education sector, the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, noted that in addition to the construction of dozens of educational facilities, the buildings of 54 other institutions in the Sughd Province are in a state of emergency, and 32 educational institution buildings need major repairs. In addition, students study in three shifts in 4 educational institutions.

In Sughd Province, there are 22 primary vocational education institutions with a capacity of more than 10 thousand students and 22 secondary vocational education institutions, in which 23 thousand students are enrolled. However, the material and technical basis of these institutions, in particular, their laboratories and educational and production equipment, requires serious improvement.

The heads of Sughd Province and its cities and districts were instructed to take practical measures to repair and reconstruct these institutions and create favorable educational and production conditions for citizens’ vocational training.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, while reviewing the situation in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, instructed to take specific measures to use the invaluable gifts of nature, especially thousands of species of medicinal plants, to establish pharmaceutical enterprises using modern technologies and standards.

During the meeting with the leaders and activists of Sughd Province, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, also discussed the state of observance of law and order and service discipline in the region, emphasizing that it is not very satisfactory.

In conclusion, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, once again drew the attention of the leaders and activists of the region to the issue of a worthy celebration of the great national holiday — 35th anniversary of state independence.

It was emphasized that each of us is obliged to make more efforts and work harder than ever to further strengthen the position of our country in the international arena.
