President of Tajikistan meets with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani

On November 4, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on the sidelines of the UN Summit for Social Development.
At the beginning of the conversation, Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between Tajikistan and Qatar.
Particular attention was paid to expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, including in energy, industry, mineral extraction and processing, and agriculture.
The importance of Qatari investment in Tajikistan’s hydropower projects and renewable energy production was noted.
The parties also discussed strengthening cooperation in labor migration, culture, science, education, and tourism.
The two countries’ joint activities within international and regional organizations, including the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, were highly praised.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan supports the State of Qatar’s mediation efforts aimed at resolving the situation in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip. A constructive exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place.
