Tajikistan, UNDP discuss bilateral cooperation

On January 16, 2026, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Jonibek Hikmat met with the newly appointed Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Alexander De Croo, reports Khovar citing press-office of the foreign ministry of the country.
The parties discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Tajikistan and UNDP, with particular emphasis on advancing cooperation in key priority areas, including climate resilience, glacier protection, water resources management, digital transformation and the responsible use of artificial intelligence, as well as the expansion of green energy solutions.
Ambassador Hikmat, as the Vice-President of the UNDP Bureau of the Executive Board and Administrator De Croo confirmed the importance of the UN80 Initiative and expressed their willingness to cooperate in its implementation.
At the end of the meeting, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan invited Alexander De Croo to participate in the 4th Dushanbe Water Conference, to be held on 25-28 May 2026.
