The key areas for intensifying cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Belarus are industry and tourism, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the CIS Bakhtovar Safarzoda said in an interview with BelTA.
“In terms of industry, there is particular interest in furthering cooperation in mechanical engineering, agriculture, light and food industries. The cooperation in these sectors has significant potential given the complementarity of the economies of Tajikistan and Belarus,” the Ambassador noted.
He emphasized that Belarus possesses a developed production base, modern technologies, and significant experience in the areas of agricultural machinery, agricultural product processing, and high-tech industries. Belarusian enterprises traditionally maintain a high level of quality and competitiveness of their products, which creates a solid foundation for expanding industrial cooperation. Tajikistan, for its part, has a promising domestic market, favorable conditions for the localization of certain manufacturing facilities, access to raw material resources, as well as opportunities for entering the markets of neighboring countries in the region. The country is consistently implementing industrialization programs, creating new production facilities, and improving the investment climate.
The head of the diplomatic mission described the assembly production of Belarusian agricultural machinery Agrotechservice in the city of Hissar as a positive example of interaction. This project clearly demonstrates the practical implementation of agreements and the demand for Belarusian technologies in the Tajik market.
“At the same time, the potential for bilateral industrial cooperation is far from exhausted. Promising areas include deepening production localization, creating new joint ventures in the field of agricultural processing, expanding the range of manufactured products, technology transfer, and training qualified personnel. These will allow industrial interaction to reach a qualitatively new level and give additional impetus to the economic partnership between the two countries,» the Ambassador continued.
Tourism is an equally promising area. Tajikistan has unique natural, historical, and cultural resources, including mountain routes, ecological and health tourism capacities while Belarus has a developed infrastructure for sanatorium and resort treatment, agritourism and ecotourism. “Expanding direct contacts between tour operators, promoting the tourism opportunities of the two countries, as well as simplifying organizational procedures for travelers would contribute to increasing mutual tourist flows. In this context, the development of direct air service between our countries is of particular importance. Regular and convenient flights are essential for the growth of tourist exchanges, as they ensure the accessibility of destinations, reduce travel time, and make trips more comfortable for both organized groups and individual travelers. Thus, closer cooperation in industry and tourism can not only strengthen economic ties but also add momentum to humanitarian and interregional contacts between the countries,” Ambassador Bakhtovar Safarzoda said.
