Tajik Lawmakers Attend Regional Talks on Gender Equality, Violence Prevention in Turkmenistan

On March 26–27, members of the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in a high-level meeting titled “Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue on Strengthening Legislation to Promote Gender Equality and Combat Gender-Based Violence” in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Khovar reported, citing the press-office of the Majlisi namoyandagon.
The event was held at the initiative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development , the United Nations Population Fund and other development partners. Among the participants were Tajik deputies Surayo Dustmurodzoda and Munavvar Abdusalomzoda.
In her remarks, Dustmurodzoda addressed the need to align national legislation on gender equality with evolving global standards and emphasized the role of parliament in advancing this agenda.
She outlined Tajikistan’s progress in implementing gender policy, including the adoption of laws, strategies and state programs, supported by relevant statistical data. These efforts were positively evaluated by experts from the United Nations Population Fund.
