President Emomali Rahmon Awarded UN University for Peace Recognition for Global Peace and Climate Leadership

On May 25, a ceremony was held at the Palace of the Nation to award the UN University for Peace Certificate of Recognition to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon.
The prestigious award was presented to the Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, for his significant contribution to peace, development of regional cooperation, and consistent efforts to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding among peoples. Specifically, the signing of a historic agreement on the settlement of state border issues between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, the adoption of the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship, and the promotion of global initiatives in water and climate protection were recognized.
The Leader of the Nation’s contribution to the targeted implementation of the International Decade for Action, «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,» the adoption of a Resolution on the International Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences, and the promotion of the «Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations» initiative were also particularly highlighted.
It should be noted that this award was approved by order of the Rector of the United Nations University for Peace, Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena, on May 19, 2026, and presented to the Leader of the Nation by the Permanent Representative of the University, Ambassador David Fernández Puyana. The award was established by the United Nations University for Peace for outstanding peace-seeking individuals and states that have achieved exceptional success in peacebuilding.
This recognition is a testament to the significant role of the Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, in strengthening peace in the region, as well as his efforts to ensure global stability and advance the global water and climate agenda, which has been reaffirmed by one of the world’s most authoritative international organizations.
