Tajik-French Archaeological Expedition Yields New Finds in Rasht Valley

A joint archaeological expedition by Tajikistan and France has concluded fieldwork in the Rasht Valley, with researchers reporting new findings that shed light on the country’s ancient history.
A review meeting was held at the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage under the Government of Tajikistan, where the expedition’s research team presented results from work conducted between June 9 and June 30 in the Rasht, Tojikobod and Lakhsh districts.
Researchers outlined newly discovered artifacts and shared updates on the study of historical and cultural sites across the region. Officials said the fieldwork was completed according to plan and produced new scientific data on Tajikistan’s early cultural heritage.
Participants discussed next steps, including deeper analysis of the findings, preparation of academic publications, and expanded cooperation between Tajik and French research institutions.
Authorities said continued collaboration in archaeology is important for preserving and promoting Tajikistan’s cultural heritage and strengthening international scientific ties.
